This is the project that sparked my recent interest in toki pona: A pixel art “alphabet book” of toki pona’s common vocabulary. Every entry uses the same visual format as closely as possible, and there are two hard constraints I introduced at the beginning to keep this project more manageable.
- Every entry is a 64×64 pixel grid.
- Every entry is limited to the ENOS16 color pallete.
I’ve introduced other guidelines over the months I’ve been creating these to help keep the visual language consistent across entries. I occasionally go back and edit old entries, either to match guidelines I introduced later or to change bits of the art I’ve grown become unhappy with. At the very end I’ll repost all the entries in a collage and you’ll be able to pick out all the changes I’ve made along the way.
I post these entries on Mastodon and BlueSky, and you can see them go up as they’re finished in both places. I post at most one per day and I’m presenting the words in the order they’re listed in lipu sona pona. I’m also going to put up full “pages” here as I finish them, which you can find below!
